Alicia, the blogger behind Thrifty & Chic, has been upset with her heavy dining table since moving into her new home. Her husband loves the sturdy giant, so she knew she couldn’t get rid of it, but needed a more airy space.
The result of his thrifty decorating work is proof that a few small exchanges can create big changes, even on a limited budget. Most of Alicia’s new, lighter-hued picks come from affordable stores; the new high chairs are from IKEA (and the white covers are easy to wash and inexpensive to replace if necessary), the cute bench is from Homegoods, and the lanterns and candlesticks were picked up from Target.
Of course, the real creator of the room is the shabby chic plank wall, which Alicia tinkered with. Take note of the lessons she learned by installing it before you try it yourself.
